Light Microscopy by A*STAR Microscopy Platform (AMP)

Explore the Organisation and Dynamics of Your Samples

The Light Microscopy division of A*STAR Microscopy Platform (AMP|LM) provides expert staff and a wide range of light microscopy instrumentation and image analysis tools, facilitating research in the biomedical sciences. AMP is a founding member of SingaScope- a Singapore-wide microscopy infrastructure network.

Scope of Services

AMP|LM houses 20 high-end light microscopes and currently has over 250 regular users. AMP|LM also hosts the A*STAR Olympus Microscopy Suite where we have access to the latest technology and instrumentation from Olympus, as well as excellent support.

AMP|LM operates either by training users to be independent or as a service facility in which the microscopy is carried out with users by our experts. Once trained, users have access to our online booking system to plan their experiments.

      Sample Types

We have experience imaging a wide range of biological samples:

      • Bacteria
      • Yeast/fungi
      • Tissue sections
      • Cultured mammalian cells
      • Organotypic cultures
      • Whole-mount tissues
      • Intravital imaging of smalls animals

      Fluorophores

Our fluorescence microscopes are equipped to image the full spectrum of fluorophores:

      • Blue (DAPI, Hoescht)
      • Cyan (CFP)
      • Green (FITC, Alexa488, GFP)
      • Yellow (YFP)
      • Red (TRITC, Alexa568, mCherry)
      • Far-red (Cy5, Alexa647)

Our confocal microscopes are also capable of spectral imaging and unmixing.
