Zeocin™ Reagent is a member of the bleomycin antibiotic family. Resistance is conferred by the Sh ble gene which encodes a 13,665 dalton protein. In cells expressing the protein, Zeocin™ is prevented from binding and cleaving the cellular DNA.   MoreZeocin™ is effective on most aerobic cells and can be used for selection in mammalian and insect cell lines, yeast, and bacteria. The amount of Zeocin™ required for selection will vary between 50-2000 ug/ml (typically 300 ug/ml) depending on the cell type.
